Autumn Evening.
September 2005
Bright-red leaves of autumn falling,
Light of summer fades away.
Lonely birds of night are calling,
Heralding the end of day.
Bright-red carpet lit by sunlight,
When to all you seem to be
Our summer’s lost delight,
Who shall dare to tread on thee?
Bright-red trees once white with flowers
Set now fire to my love-
Where are the long summer hours?
Where’s the golden sun above?
Bright-red roses, all now dying,
Bright-red petals fade away.
Like my heart, they too are crying
For a distant golden day.
Sun is setting-bright-red pyre-
In the red and fiery sea-
Who shall quench my great desire,
When the whole world burns like me?
End of November
November 13th, 2008
Falling red leaves cover the ground-
To them the lonely trees still call,
But cool winds block the mournful sound-
Falling white snow will cover all.
Falling red leaves dance on and on-
And on and on we dance as well,
Though autumn’s melody’s now gone
And it’s time winter’s tale to tell.
Falling red leaves desert the world-
Will you too leave my autumn land,
Abandon me into the cold
With fallen white snow on my hand?
Falling red leaves still around me-
I must stay on into the past.
But oh! Now in your hair I see
Falling white snow has come to rest.
You’ll part from our falling red leaves
And from me. You’ll ignore my call
And in our wood of autumn trees
Falling white snow will cover all.
Snowfall
November 2005
Snow is falling, land is sleeping.
Snowflakes fall from clouded skies.
Frozen tears the world is weeping,
Frozen tears are in my eyes.
No bird sings for all are flying
To a place where hope still stands.
Only I am left defying
Lonely hours in barren lands.
Ceased is laughter, frozen, tear,
Cold, my heart no more shall weep
Gone is sorrow, joy or fear,
For in winter all must sleep.
Spring shall come and sleep shall end,
Hope and grief shall wake once more.
But, till then, alone I’ll stand
Gazing at the frozen shore.
Snowflakes, fall- my heart is weary
Of the tears I’ve shed in vain.
Snowflakes, fall and here burry
All the sadness, love and pain.
Soft snow, burry my desire,
Freeze the tears that I weep,
Burning love, put out thy fire,
In winter all flowers sleep.
…”Time flows on to a spring of little hope”…
The end of winter
February 2006
The sun now shines and wakes my pain
And blinds my eyes with sudden glow
The time has come to think again
Of whispered dreams, so long ago.
Of whispered dreams…I still recall
The song of joy in summer nights
Before the snow began to fall,
Before the stars had dimmed their lights.
The song of birds is all I hear:
It bids my love again to wake,
It brings to life my grief and fear-
Emotions that my soul would break.
Awake then, heart, if this must be,
Awake then, hope, though thou art vain,
Awake then, love not meant for me,
Awake then, sweet and restless pain.
And welcome back, consuming fire,
Too long a winter, was it not?
And welcome, sadness and desire,
Come slay the peace I vainly sought.
And, proud grey eyes, I send thee greeting!
Come wake all pain and hope in me.
Revived by thee, this heart that now is beating,
Shall die again for too much love of thee.
Summons during a summer storm
April 2007
Come, drown me with water from darkening skies,
And blind me with lightning so bright,
Embrace me with clouds as grey as your eyes
And quench my desires tonight.
Come, give me your hand as the summer rain falls-
Blessed lifedrops that come from above.
Entwined we will be as the loud thunder rolls-
As strong and as cruel as our love.
Say nothing of warmth, talk not of the sun-
Our passion would melt in its light-
Yet here in the cold rain we stand now as one,
As reckless, as free as the night.
Let us sing for our ardour, let us laugh, let us die
Slain by passion too deep and too strong,
Let us dance-you and I-under darkening sky,
With the lightning so cruel for our song.
